What is THCA?

    faq

THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a non-psychoactive compound found in raw and live cannabis plants. Unlike the well-known psychoactive cannabis compound THC, THCA does not provide a “high” when consumed. THCA is raw and can have a number of health benefits without containing the psychoactive elements of THC, making it popular among individuals who would like to benefit from its therapeutic uses without going through the accompanying “high.”

Research into THCA is ongoing, but initial studies show it may possess anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and antiemetic properties, making it a potential treatment for chronic pain, muscle spasm, nausea, arthritis, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Additionally, some users report that it helps them sleep, and can help with both anxiety and muscle relaxation.

THCA is usually consumed in raw cannabis through juicing or tinctures. While there are fewer studies on THCA than on THC and CBD, interest is growing in exploring its medicinal potential.
