Why hemp products, THC beverages might be harder to get in Ohio soon

As the craft beer industry began to flounder, Urban Artifact sought a new boon for its business. The Cincinnati brewery is among craft brewers nationwide that sell THC-infused beverages to customers looking for an alternative to beer. Urban Artifact also manufactures THC drinks for partner breweries, a model so successful that the company is looking to expand its production team. “We had our best year in 2024 that we’ve ever had as a business,” co-founder Scotty Hunter said. Unlicensed retailers will face penalties for selling THC edibles in Arizona

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is warning local retailers that it is considered illegal to sell cannabis-infused products without a proper license. In a letter dated March 24, the attorney general said there appears to be some confusion regarding what types of businesses are allowed to sell THC-infused edibles and beverages. The Federal Farm Bill of 2018 permitted the production of hemp products with a certain amount of THC. However, a state proposition legalizing marijuana in Arizona requires THC-infused products… Read More »Unlicensed retailers will face penalties for selling THC edibles in Arizona

The Regulatory Chaos of Cannabis Drinks Retail

Without federal guidance on the sale and consumption of hemp-derived THC-infused beverages, states are scrambling to legislate, leading to a confusing patchwork of regulations for retailers and distributors to follow. Art Nergaryan’s specialty wine and cheese shops in Massachusetts had thrived for years. But when he introduced hemp-derived THC-infused beverages, something unexpected happened: his business boomed. “I turned half of the store into THC products,” says Nergaryan, whose Art’s Specialties has four locations across the state. “My business jumped by… Read More »The Regulatory Chaos of Cannabis Drinks Retail

Federal Marijuana Trafficking Cases Continue To Decline As State-Level Legalization Expands

Federal marijuana drug trafficking cases are continuing to fall steadily in the era of state-level legalization, a new report from the U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC) shows. The recently published USSC 2024 Sourcebook of Federal Sentencing Statistics reveals the continuation of a trend that’s been seen over the past decade, with cannabis-related prosecutions dropping precipitously amid the state-level reform push and shifting federal enforcement priorities. In 2024, there were roughly 500 federal cannabis trafficking cases, according to the report. That’s down… Read More »Federal Marijuana Trafficking Cases Continue To Decline As State-Level Legalization Expands

Cannabis and Sleep: Can Marijuana Be the Natural Solution to Insomnia?

The connection between cannabis and sleep is not anecdotal. According to studies cited by experts and discussed in the Daniel Fung arrest blog, cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to regulate mood, stress, and—crucially—sleep. THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis, is known to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep and prolong the duration of deep sleep. Meanwhile, CBD has been reported to reduce anxiety and promote calmness, both essential for restful nights. The California cannabis industry has seen its fair share of ups and downs. With a growing number of companies surrendering their licenses and a looming tax increase that some fear could lead to an even bigger “extinction event,” many operators are on edge. But at this week’s Hall of Flowers in Ventura, any worries were set aside in favor of creating opportunities. The biannual B2B event sees a wide array of brands and ancillary service providers presenting their latest and… Read More »‘All ships rise’: Hall of Flowers levels up for 2025

Bipartisan Minnesota Bill Would Allow Free Cannabis Samples at Events

A new bill introduced today in the Minnesota Senate would allow licensed marijuana retailers to provide free samples at cannabis-related events. Under the proposed legislation, authorized cannabis retailers participating in cannabis events—such as microbusinesses, mezzobusinesses, and lower-potency hemp edible retailers—would be allowed to give away samples of marijuana and marijuana-derived products, a move currently prohibited under state law. According to the bill, only one sample of each product may be displayed or offered, and samples must be clearly labeled and… Read More »Bipartisan Minnesota Bill Would Allow Free Cannabis Samples at Events

Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) said Thursday that he is done negotiating with smoke and vape shop retailers he says are breaking state law by selling candy and other products with delta-8 THC, a synthetic version of THC. Hilgers has spent the past year and a half trying to persuade and sue retailers into pulling off the shelves what he calls a dangerous, unregulated drug before more people than the half-dozen or so complaints his office has received get… Read More »Nebraska AG Warns Of Coming Crackdown On Hemp-Derived Products, Including Delta-8 THC

A nearly two-year-old legal battle is over—for now—after a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit over the legality of delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, in goods and other low-THC hemp products. Judge James R. Sweeney II, of the U.S. District Court for Indiana’s Southern District, wrote the suit is “fundamentally” a “question for consideration by Indiana’s courts.” Source: https://www.therepublic.com/2025/03/23/federal-judge-dismisses-indiana-delta-8-legality-lawsuit/

Revolutionizing CBD treatment for epilepsy and multiple sclerosis

Cannabidiol (CBD) is popularly used for its painkilling, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. It has been used to treat illnesses like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. But there has been one key limitation preventing it from being used to its full potential – CBD does not dissolve easily in water, so the body has trouble absorbing it efficiently. Researchers at the University of South Australia have created a new method to address this issue.
